Two other things

I'm delighted to report that my entry to the BSHS's song competition is a runner up! (There are two runners up and one first place.) I won't be able to make the conference this weekend in Leicester as I'll be presenting at a different one that day in Bristol.

In honor of Canada Day, I wore my Tilley hat. It was hot and a bit sweltery, so absolutely necessary. And a hat! (I note that heavy rains are forecast for the weekend.)

That's an awesome song! Is there a link to the winning song? I want to see what masterpiece could have beaten such an entry :-)

Thank you! The winning lyrics are about Babbage. Here you go:

Now what is it about the song Clementine that not only yours but the winner (and possibly others) used it? Is it particularly apt for building variations on?
I really like your song. Congratulations!

We had a choice of 5 tunes to set our music too, so the odds were reasonable that multiple winners would use the same melody. What's more intriguing is why the committee chose the songs they did for us to set them to.

There are some fine lines in the Babbage entry, but not only is yours better, it's also more singable. So you get runner-up and devoted adoration.
