Perhaps C. is right and I do need a new printer. The one I have is quite functional. It prints. But it's a small and lightweight travel printer, and thus not designed for speed. I've spent the last 45 minutes printing out 25 pages - this includes active effort on my part, as I need to feed it each sheet of paper. After the first 4 or 5 pages i gave up trying to read while printing - and it was an engrossing article, too! For every page and a half of reading, I would need to feed one piece of paper. In retrospect, my time would have been used more efficiently if I had spent those 45 minutes going into school and paying to use a laserprinter. This method, however, is cheaper, if much, much slower.

but aren't you writing a dissertation?
the time alone to print out chapters to ruminate on could make you batty.

Something that prints fast isn't so much of an issue. I think you could do with something you don't have to feed paper into page by page. That way you can just leave it running and do other things with your time. It must be agony to print out work and draft versions of your dissertation page by page, you will end up printing from uni each time.

Re: Lookie what I found
Eek. It's my lousy title. The topic is still fine, and I'm busily working away on the dissertation chapter which is relevant to the talk, but I really think I did a lousy job with the title. Really, I prefer straightforward and simple words.

But this means I'll have an audience member! And if, for some unlikely reason, drinks haven't already worked out at that point, I can meet you then and coordinate.

For my first 'Zoo paper I'm actually in the rather fortunate situation of knowing the session respondant and trusting him to be both reasonable, gentle, and honest about his feedback. I'm not likely to be so luck in the future!

Re: Lookie what I found
I'm sure we'll meet up before then. I'll be arriving on Wednesday, anyway, and will have plenty of time to wander. We'll at least have to take in a drink or dinner at Bilbo's.
Just the thought of giving a paper at Zoo sends shivers down my spine. Ughhh...
