Fishy Circumstances

Instructorship

I have the job. I'll be teaching a course this fall for my department, one right in my area. I officially heard yesterday.

I'm both excited and nervous. I've had TAships before, but never an instructorship. I've never been the one ultimately responsible for student grades. Also, I know this means I will accomplish practically nothing dissertation-wise this fall, so it's extra-important that I write as much as I can this summer, in addition to preparing for the course.
Fishy Circumstances

Unexpected departmental news

Our professor of physics has just resigned, lured away by another university. This means that at least 4 of our undergraduate courses will be taught by graduate students or sessionals next year. What an unexpected development.
