Reflection of Bath Abbey in the waters of the Roman Baths next door
When marzapane and I were young, we joked that we only showed up in family photos as scale. We were scale to cathedrals and ruins, walls and parish churches, towers and noble houses. We were scale because our parents are art historians, documenting our childhood trips not just for memory, but for use in lectures. Our vacation photos doubled as lecture slides.
This week, for the first time, I did it too. I posted vacation photos for my class to look at, as examples of particular kinds of historical construction. Immersed as the world is in copyright tensions, it's reassuring to know that I have some images to hand whose usage rights are entirely, unquestionably, mine.
