Rose bush

You may remember that back in August, Cat gave me two small rosebushes. I left them out on the deck, and, overnight, the raccoons or squirrels or both tore apart the pot and flung the plants across the deck. I repotted them in despair and left them out on the deck, where they haven't been disturbed by animalkind since. It was just going to be a matter of time before I threw them away with the yard waste.

I stepped outside this morning into mist and mild temperatures and, to my great surprise, noticed the flush of healthy green and new leaves on one of the two rose bushes. One of them survived afterall!

In other raccoon-related news, there was another fight on the roof a night or two back. Happily, there was no ailing raccoon on the morning glory the next day, nor is there obvious plant damage since I started my "wards", even if I've been updating the ammonia only sporadically. Then again, I never did do all the replantings I swore I would. The plants are neglected, but in neglect, the rose, at least, thrives.
