In the mailbox

Yesterday was a good mail day. I received three things: a boxed set of historical English Heritage cookbooks from my grandmother *; a postcard about how good the food is in Chiang-Mai (thanks, chickenfeet2003!); and my first issue of Gastronomica, a coffee-table-style scholarly journal about food and culture.

* It was both heartwarming and disappointing that the series was missing the Medieval volume - heartwarming inasmuch as it means my grandmother has probably cooked from it.

I love Gastronomica! There's never any shortage of unusual information in each issue. (alas, I'm behind on my current issue; your post reminds me to dig it out and read it).
