A number of people have posted links to the University of Toronto backlist booksale, going on until April 18th. I received several copies of the order form in my mailbox last month, and browsed through the listings. To my delight, the press was discounting by 50 - 65 percent books which I have been coveting for years! Books on tilers and masons and scribes and engineers and manuscripts.

And so I ordered a slew of them.* I put my check in an envelope barely a week ago, and today a box of lovely books shows up on my doorstep! It's not quite instant gratification - but it's nicely prompt turnaround time. It can take this long for orders I place online and in-town to show up this quickly. If you're thinking of placing an order yourself, just remember to do it soon.

* Yes, I know I need to acquire as little as possible in the next few months. But these were so inexpensive, and I really had been coveting most of them for several years, especially the volumes in the British Library's Medieval Craftsman series.
