Chocolate Week Alert

In southern England? Like chocolate? Next week is Chocolate Week, an annual event featuring loads of chocolate-themed events, free samples, demos, and tours. Most of them are free. Some involve signing up. If you're interested in signing up, do so as soon as possible, as some of the more unusual events are already full. There's all sorts of things this year, from Paul A. Young launching a new chocolate shop right near Bank station to a chocolate-themed tour of the Natural History Museum organized by Rococo.

In honor of the week, Chocolate Ecstasy Tours will be doing another all day chocolate tour of London. I went on it last year with haggisthesecond and enjoyed it a great deal.

Most - but by no means all - of the events are in London. Most of the others are west of London, from chocolate-themed restaurant menus to samples at the Dorset Food Fair. Chococo is doing another mail-order Chocolate Week-themed box, and Sir Hans Sloane Chocolate & Champagne and L'Artisan du Chocolat are doing factory tours.

Apple Day at Melt and William Curley doing demos at John Lewis (among the other free drop-in things). Saturday the 20th would be good for me!

It's more that we should meet for lunch somewhere near Oxford Circus, Notting Hill Gate, or Sloane Square and then I drag you around.

works for me! i can get to all three, provided the Circle/District lines are working (otherwise i can get to the first two via Bakerloo/Central lines)

dude! we saw a billboard advertising the Dorset food fair (from 20 Oct I recall) and meant to tell you. But evidently your finger is on the pulse...

I thought of you when I saw that! It also caught my eye because it's Chococo: of all the many chocolate store wares we sampled last year, Chococo was C.'s favorite - I gave him a 6 month subscription to their chocolate club as a present because of it.

Been a while since we've been to Chococo, actually. I'd be up for a repeat visit if you can talk Isabel into it!

It seems there are events in Borders stores, but it's rather hard to tell when exactly. I guess I'll just have to keep my eye out for that.

Is this an annual event? Where do I sign on?
Oct. 10th, 2007 08:45 pm (UTC)
It is an annual event!

You can sign up for their really inadequate mailing list on the sidebar here: http://www.chocolate-week.co.uk/

It's really inadequate since they send maybe 2 emails per year and never at quite the right time. They noted Chocolate Week was forthcoming several weeks back, but I actually clued in to the schedule being available thanks to being on the Chocolate Ecstasy Tours mailing list.

Oh, Chocolate Week. How I wish I could be in London for you.

You're so cute. "for me". You are so noble and self-sacrificing in the name of chocolate.

For chocolate, I give my all.
