On a clear day in Venice, the Dolomites seem so close. They were particularly unexpected the other week because it was so overcast - but the clouds were high. This was taken from beside a boatyard, somewhere in Castello, I think. (We'd walked quite a ways with our hosts through a large residential neighborhood and into a district of warehouses and workshops.) I know, the horizon is slightly angled, and the line picked up in several places by wake, steels bands, and brickwork only exacerbates it.
